About Steve Wager

Expertise & Philosophy

Steve has been a Class-A Member of the PGA since February 2001. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Steve has been instrumental in advancing golf instruction by using cutting-edge technology and techniques in his students’ lessons.

A few of Steve’s instructional components include:

  • High-speed video analysis
  • Biomechanics & Balance
  • Personalized conditioning & fitness

Once he considers an individual student’s goals, expectations, physical strengths, and weaknesses, he will develop an individualized plan to help each student reach his or her goals. Steve is able to take what is extremely complex and translate it for each student into something he/she can understand, feel, and repeat.

Elite Certifications: Nike NG360, Titleist Performance Institute (Adult & Junior), PGA Teaching and Coaching Certified, US Kids, and the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Career & Achievements

Steve is a two-time winner of the Philadelphia PGA Section Player Development Award. Originally from Lancaster, PA, Steve served at Conestoga Country Club (1996-2003) and as Head Golf Professional at State College Elks Country Club (2004-2011) before becoming the Director of Player Development at Penn State.

Steve lives in State College with his wife Melissa and their two sons, who are frequently seen practicing on the course.
